Automatic refund — triggered without your thinking about it
When the client cancels themselves, the refund set out in the scale goes out in Stripe.
The problem
A refund owed and not paid turns into a dispute soon enough. The client cancelled in time, they are waiting for their money, and every day of delay damages the relationship — often over a modest sum you had simply forgotten to deal with.
A manual refund is exactly the kind of task one puts off: you have to open another tool, find the transaction, work out the percentage, and check you have not picked the wrong client. None of it is hard, but it is enough to wait until tomorrow.
When the rule is already written into a scale, calculating it by hand adds nothing. It may as well be triggered at the moment the cancellation happens.

Does the refund go out if I cancel the appointment myself?
No, not today. That is the known limit of this feature: only cancellation by the client triggers the refund. When you cancel from the calendar, remember to refund from your Stripe dashboard.
How soon is the client credited?
The refund is triggered immediately on Stripe's side, but the actual credit depends on the client's bank — generally reckon on a few working days.
What happens if the refund fails?
The refund is attempted on a best-effort basis; if it fails, the record remains visible in your Stripe dashboard, where you can try again by hand.
Can I refund more than the scale provides for?
Yes, by making a further refund from Stripe. The scale sets what happens automatically, not the limits of a goodwill gesture.
