Booking software for Locksmiths
The lock-out emergency and the security upgrade do not live in the same diary, and the price stated before the visit is the best argument in the trade.

The challenges facing locksmiths
Emergencies and installations do not live in the same diary
One gets dealt with within the hour, the other planned a fortnight out. Mixed together, you miss both.
The price stated before the visit is the best argument
The trade suffers from a reputation a handful of operators made. Showing the rate, the call-out and the range before the customer confirms wins half the calls.
A photograph of the lock avoids a second visit
Euro cylinder, three-point lock, a particular brand of composite door. Seen in advance, the right part travels in the van.
Travel makes the price
Twenty minutes or an hour on the road is not the same job. A fee by area settles it before the call.
Calls arrive when your hands are full
On a job or outside a door, you do not take bookings. A page showing the first free slot beats an answerphone.

Practical guide: Locksmiths
- Two families of service: call-outs, on short slots opened every day, and installations, planned in half days.
- Every service's price shown on the page, call-out included. That is what sets you apart.
- Travel charges by area, visible before confirmation.
- A "type of lock, brand, photograph if possible" field: the right part travels with you.
- Keep two emergency slots open each day. They fill themselves and they pay better.
- A reminder with the estimated arrival time. On a home call-out, that is what people want most.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a locksmith charge in the UK?
Around £60 to £150 for a non-destructive entry in working hours, more at night and weekends, and £90 to £250 to change a lock including the cylinder. Set your own prices.
What information must you give for a home call-out?
More than most locksmiths realise, and getting it wrong is a criminal offence. A call-out arranged at the customer's home is an off-premises contract under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. You must give prescribed pre-contract information on paper or in a durable medium, including the total price, and a cancellation form and notice of the 14-day right to cancel — failing to give the cancellation notice is an offence, and it extends the cancellation period by up to twelve months. If the customer wants work done inside the cooling-off period they must request it expressly, in writing, and they then pay for what has been done. Note also that locksmithing is entirely unregulated in the UK: no licence, no vetting. Master Locksmiths Association membership, with its checks and inspections, is the voluntary standard.
Can I keep emergencies separate from planned installations?
Yes, as two families of service with their own slots.
Can I show my prices before booking?
Yes, on each service, call-out included.
Can I ask for details about the lock?
Yes, with custom fields including a photograph.
Can I keep slots for emergencies?
Yes, opened every day and visible at short notice.
