The challenges facing trampoline parks

  • Safety imposes a capacity

A maximum number of jumpers per slot, non-negotiable, and impossible to hold with a manual counter.

  • The parental acknowledgement

To be completed by an adult, collected before entry, and findable on the day something goes wrong.

  • Wednesday and Saturday parties

A slot, a room, a cake, a deposit, and a list of children.

  • School holidays

Two weeks of saturation, six weeks of nothing, and the same schedule for both.

Practical guide: Trampoline parks

  1. Set the capacity per slot by your safe occupancy, not by how much you want to fill.
  2. The acknowledgement validated with a required field at booking: accepted before arrival.
  3. A deposit on parties: that is a room and a slot blocked.
  4. Two sets of hours, term time and holidays, switched in one operation.
  5. An "age of the children" field to route them to the right slot.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have the conditions accepted online?

Yes, with a required tickbox at booking, timestamped.

How do I cap the number of jumpers?

With a capacity per slot.

Can I manage parties separately?

Can I change my hours during the holidays?

Yes, with two sets of opening hours.

What standard applies to UK trampoline parks?

PAS 5000, the publicly available specification for trampoline parks, published after a run of serious injuries and now the reference an insurer, an inspector and a court will use. It covers design and construction, court layout and separation, foam pits, signage, marshal ratios and training, session management and inspection regimes. Alongside it sit the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 with a written risk assessment, an accident reporting system with RIDDOR notifications, a fire risk assessment, and independent annual inspection. International Association of Trampoline Parks membership is the voluntary badge. Note that a waiver cannot exclude liability for personal injury caused by negligence: the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 makes such a term void, so treat it as a record of the rules, not as protection.
