Booking software for EMS studios

A twenty-minute session, a suit to get into and then to clean, and a trainer who takes only one or two clients at a time.

The challenges facing EMS studios

  • Twenty minutes of session, forty minutes of slot

Getting into the suit, wetting it, taking it off, cleaning it. The time sold and the time occupied have nothing to do with each other, and it is the second that fills the day.

  • A trainer takes only one or two clients at a time

This is not a gym floor, it is supervision. The studio's capacity is counted in available trainers, not in square metres.

  • The weekly membership is the heart of the model

One session a week, at a fixed time, across the year. Rebooked by hand every week, it gets lost at the first disruption.

  • The suit has a size

It gets prepared before arrival, and it cannot be guessed. The question gets asked once, at the first booking.

  • The block of ten gets used with no record

At twenty minutes a session the count moves fast and gets lost just as fast. History attached to the client avoids the conversation.

Practical guide: EMS studios

  1. Buffer time before and after the session: dressing on one side, cleaning on the other. Twenty minutes sold, forty blocked.
  2. Each trainer has a diary, and the studio its real capacity. Two clients per trainer at most, never three because the schedule allowed it.
  3. The membership set on recurrence for the year: same day, same time, same trainer.
  4. A "suit size" field at the first booking. It never gets asked again.
  5. A required "pacemaker, pregnancy, epilepsy, recent surgery" field. Electrostimulation contraindications do not get discovered while plugging in.
  6. The block attached to the client record: the balance reads, it does not get argued.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an EMS session cost in the UK?

Around £35 to £70 for a twenty-minute session, with blocks and monthly memberships bringing the per-session price down. Set your own prices.

What precautions does an EMS studio need?

The activity is unregulated in the UK, which puts the whole weight on screening and equipment. Whole-body electrical muscle stimulation has recognised contraindications — implanted pacemakers and defibrillators, pregnancy, epilepsy, serious cardiovascular or renal conditions, recent surgery, and active malignancy — and a documented written screening with a signed declaration before the first session is what your insurer will ask for after any incident. Suits must be CE or UKCA marked, maintained and cleaned between users, and used within the manufacturer's instructions; that also matters legally, because claims of therapeutic benefit can bring a device within the medical device rules. There is documented risk of rhabdomyolysis after excessive first sessions, so start conservatively and record it. Add a Level 3 fitness qualification and manufacturer training as the insurance floor.

Can I block time before and after the session?

Yes, with buffer time on both sides.

How do I manage the studio's capacity?

By counting it in trainers, each with their own diary.

Can I set a weekly membership for the year?

Yes, with recurring bookings.

Can I collect contraindications at booking?

Yes, with required custom fields.
