Is supervision compulsory for axe throwing?
There is no statute naming axe throwing, so the framework is the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999: a written risk assessment, competent supervision, a documented briefing, caged lanes, target inspection and axe checks with records. In practice your insurer sets the operating rules, and the one that shapes the business is alcohol — most policies bar throwing after drinking, or cap it, and require a visible policy with staff empowered to refuse. If you serve drinks you also need a premises licence under the Licensing Act 2003. Minimum ages and footwear rules are yours to set, but set them in writing and check them at booking.
