Do I need anything to take away a client's clutter?
Yes, and this is the point most people miss. Carrying someone else's waste as part of your business makes you a waste carrier: you must register as an upper tier waste carrier with the Environment Agency, SEPA, Natural Resources Wales or the NIEA, and carrying waste unregistered is an offence with a substantial fine. You also owe a duty of care under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to transfer waste only to an authorised person and to keep transfer notes — fly-tipped items traced back to you are your problem. Taking things to a charity shop on the client's behalf is fine; loading a van with rubbish is not, without the registration. Note also that there is no UK tax relief for household help equivalent to the French crédit d'impôt.
