What qualifications does a UK plumber need?
Plumbing itself is not a licensed trade, but three pieces of work are gated. Any work on gas appliances requires Gas Safe registration in the right categories, and doing it without is a criminal offence. Installing an unvented hot water cylinder is notifiable under Part G of the Building Regulations and requires the G3 operative qualification, with the work certified. And the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 govern what may be installed and require advance notification to the water undertaker for certain fittings, with WaterSafe approved contractors able to self-certify. Add waste carrier registration if you remove old cylinders and materials, and public liability insurance.
