Capacity and units — a twenty-seat room counts up to twenty, not up to one

Each booking removes a number of units from the resource. The remaining capacity updates itself.

The problem

A resource isn't always all or nothing. A gym has twenty seats. A changing room has four lockers.

Without units, you'd need one resource per seat, or treat the room as simply free or simply full. A three-quarters empty room stays underused.

Each booking removes the number of units it uses. The remaining capacity recalculates instantly.

Without Kagenda

The room shows full from the very first booking, even though fifteen of twenty seats remain.

With Kagenda

Each booking deducts its own seats. The room only shows full at the twentieth.

How it works in Kagenda

You set a capacity on the resource. Each booking removes the number of units it uses.

Frequently asked questions

Does a resource without capacity work?

Yes. It's simply taken or free, with no in-between.

Are units shared between services?

Yes. If two services use the same resource, they draw on the same pool.

Can the capacity be changed afterwards?

Yes, at any time. Bookings already made stay valid.

Can capacity exceed a service's participant count?

Yes. They're two separate settings.
