The challenges facing meditation teachers
The eight-week course is bought in one go
It does not sell by the session, and it cannot be caught up either. Booked all at once with its eight dates, it becomes a commitment the group holds together.
The cap makes the quality
Twelve participants, not thirty. It is not a room limit, it is a condition of the practice — and it has to apply on its own.
The morning session online reaches a different group
Seven o'clock, before work, from home. That slot only exists if the link arrives on its own, with no prior exchange.
A participant who misses two sessions drops out of the course
The programme is progressive. The weekly reminder is not administrative comfort, it holds the group.
The taster session fills the courses
A free or low-cost session decides the sign-up to the full course. It has to be bookable on its own, without going through a contact form.

Practical guide: Meditation teachers
- The course booked on recurrence at sign-up: eight dates, one operation, one payment.
- Group capacity set to what the practice can carry, not to what the room allows.
- Two separate services, "in the room" and "online", each with its own slots. The video link goes out in the confirmation.
- The taster session as a free or low-cost service, bookable on its own.
- A reminder the night before each session of the course. Over eight weeks it is the difference between a group and a list.
- 7am slots open online only. That is an audience the room does not reach.
Frequently asked questions
How much does an eight-week mindfulness course cost?
Around £180 to £400 for an eight-week course, £10 to £20 for a drop-in class and £50 to £100 for a one-to-one session. Set your own prices.
Is teaching meditation regulated in the UK?
No. There is no licence, no protected title and no required qualification. What functions as a standard is the British Association of Mindfulness-Based Approaches, whose good practice guidelines cover teacher training, ongoing practice and supervision, and whose listing is what NHS commissioners and many employers look for. Two cautions matter more than the credential. Do not present a course as treatment for a mental health condition: that engages the CAP Code, and the ASA has ruled on it. And mindfulness-based work can surface distress in vulnerable participants, so screening at sign-up and a referral route are part of competent practice, not extras.
Can I sell an eight-session course in one go?
Yes, with recurring bookings and a single payment.
How do I cap the group size?
With a capacity per session.
Can I run sessions online?
Yes, as a separate service. The link is created automatically.
Can I offer a taster session?
Yes, free or at a low price, bookable on its own.
