Is the title of coach protected in the UK?
No. Coaching is entirely unregulated here: anyone may use the title, and no qualification is required. Credentials from the International Coaching Federation, the European Mentoring and Coaching Council or the Association for Coaching are voluntary, but they are what corporate clients and insurers look for, and they carry supervision and ethics requirements. Two limits do apply whatever your background. You must not present coaching as psychological therapy or imply you can treat a mental health condition — that engages the CAP Code and, if a client is harmed, negligence. And if your marketing makes outcome claims, the Advertising Standards Authority will expect evidence.
