The challenges facing breathwork practitioners
You do not pick up during a session
An hour of breathwork is an hour when the phone rings into the void. Missed calls do not all ring back.
The eight-session course
It gets scheduled ahead, it runs over two months, and it falls apart as soon as one session is missed.
Group workshops counted by hand
Twelve places, sign-ups by email, a spreadsheet, and two people too many on the day.
The first appointment that never happens
The person who hesitated a long time before getting in touch is also the one who does not turn up, without warning.

Practical guide: Breathwork practitioners
- Create the course as a service of its own: the client books all eight sessions at once, at the same time each week.
- Group workshops declared with a number of places: sign-ups close by themselves at the last one.
- A reminder the evening before rather than two hours ahead: someone who can no longer come still has time to say so.
- Ten minutes of buffer between sessions: talking does not stop on the minute.
- A required "health history and what brings you" field. In this work it is screening, not admin.
Frequently asked questions
Can I run group sessions?
Yes, with a capacity per session.
How do I manage a course of several sessions?
With recurring bookings from the first session.
Can I run sessions by video?
Yes, as a separate service. The link is created automatically.
Do my clients need an account?
No. A name, an email and it is done.
Is breathwork regulated in the UK, and what should I be careful about?
It is not regulated: no licence, no protected title, no required qualification, and no single register — the British Breathwork Association and the practitioner bodies for particular methods set their own standards. Two things deserve more attention here than in most wellbeing work. Conscious connected and holotropic-style breathing can produce tetany, fainting and strong emotional release, and carries genuine contraindications including pregnancy, cardiovascular conditions, epilepsy, glaucoma and a history of psychosis: written screening and a clear exclusion policy are the standard of care, and insurers will ask about them. And do not present the work as treatment for a mental health condition — that engages the CAP Code, and the Advertising Standards Authority has ruled on comparable claims.
