What applies to a workshop where students take a knife home?
Two frames, and the second is the one to get right. On safety, the forge brings COSHH and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974: a written risk assessment, burn and projection protection, ventilation and fume extraction, and protective equipment provided to participants, with the installation itself possibly needing an environmental permit depending on fuel and location. On knives, it is an offence to sell or let to hire a bladed article to anyone under 18, and the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 restricts delivering bladed articles to residential premises and requires age verification at handover for remote sales — so hand the piece over in person to an adult, keep a record, and think carefully before posting anything. Certain blade types are prohibited outright.
