Booking software for Shiatsu practitioners
An hour of session, a quarter of an hour to air the room and come back to yourself, and courses of four that follow the seasons.

The challenges facing shiatsu practitioners
A quarter of an hour between sessions is not free time
The room has to be aired, the futon remade, and you have to come back to yourself. A diary that sells the next slot on the hour brings the next person into the previous session.
Courses of four follow the seasons
They get booked in one go at the turn of a season, or they do not get booked. Calling every client three months later is work nobody does.
The phone stays in the changing room
You do not interrupt a shiatsu, and those are exactly the hours when people call. The page takes the bookings for you.
The session gets a reminder the night before
An hour booked for nothing is an hour that does not come back. In a practice with one table, every absence counts double.
The course gets tracked without a notebook
Four sessions paid, two done, the third moved. The history on the record says where things stand, and says it without argument.

Practical guide: Shiatsu practitioners
- Fifteen minutes of buffer after each session, which the diary never sells. It is not comfort, it is the condition of the next session.
- The course of four booked on recurrence from the first, at the rhythm you choose.
- A reminder the evening before. With a single table, an absence cannot be made up.
- A session duration that includes the talking before and after. Shiatsu does not begin when the person lies down.
- A "history, pregnancy, current medication" field: these are things you do not like asking at the start of a session.
- The course attached to the record: what has been used is read, and read again three months later.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a shiatsu session cost?
Around £45 to £80 for an hour, and £160 to £280 for a course of four. Set your own prices.
Is shiatsu a regulated profession in the UK?
No. Shiatsu is not regulated, the title is not protected and no qualification is required by law. The Shiatsu Society sets the professional standard and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council holds a shiatsu category on its Accredited Register, overseen by the Professional Standards Authority; both are voluntary, and both are what insurers look for. On claims, the CAP Code applies and the Cancer Act 1939 makes advertising an offer to treat cancer a criminal offence. Premises may need a licence: in a London borough, a special treatment licence covers massage-type work, and elsewhere it depends on your council.
Can I block time between two sessions?
Yes, with buffer time the diary never sells.
How do I offer a course of four sessions?
With recurring bookings from the first session.
Can I collect health information before the session?
Yes, with custom fields.
How do I cut absences?
With a reminder the night before and a cancellation notice period.
