The challenges facing reflexologists
The phone during a session
With your hands on a foot, you do not pick up. A missed call is a lost appointment one time in two.
Packages of five sessions
Paid in advance, used over three months, noted on a card. The count always ends up being discussed.
Sessions of different lengths
Forty-five minutes for a follow-up, an hour for a first visit. One slot length either overruns or wastes.
Absences with no warning
An empty hour in the middle of the afternoon, impossible to resell the same day.

Practical guide: Reflexologists
- One service per duration, with its price. That is what stops the diary lying.
- The package tracked on the client record: you see at a glance how many sessions remain.
- Reminder the evening before: at that distance, someone who can no longer come has time to tell you.
- Ten minutes of buffer to air the room and change the linen between people.
- Open booking in the evening and at weekends: that is when wellbeing appointments get made.
Frequently asked questions
Can I offer packages of several sessions?
Yes. They attach to the client record and the balance updates itself.
Do my clients get a reminder?
Yes, by email as standard, by SMS with credits.
Can I work both from home and from a clinic?
Yes, as two services with their own addresses and slots.
How do I block my days off?
With an unavailability over the period.
Is reflexology regulated in the UK, and what may I say about it?
Reflexology is not regulated: no licence, no protected title, no required qualification. The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council holds a reflexology category on its Accredited Register, and the Association of Reflexologists sets standards; registration is voluntary but is what insurers and hospices ask for. What you say is where the law bites. The CAP Code, enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority, requires evidence for health claims, and the ASA has ruled that reflexology may not be advertised as treating medical conditions. Section 4 of the Cancer Act 1939 makes advertising an offer to treat cancer a criminal offence. Relaxation and wellbeing are safe ground.
